With a view to
expanding routes and positioning Panama as a world-class tourist destination,
the company Air Panama announced the reactivation of its direct flights between
Panama City and the district of Pedasí, in the province of Los Santos, with a
frequency of three weekly flights (Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday) round trip.
For these
flights, the airline will use Caravan-type aircraft, with a capacity of 12
passengers and in the future it is planned to expand the number of seats to 50
passengers. They will be carried out from the Captain Justiniano Montenegro
regional airport.
The
reactivation of flights increases the possibility that Pedasí receives more
tourists and that international tour operators from Colombia, Canada, Spain,
among other countries, put together packages that include this destination. The
president of the Air Panama company, Eduardo Stagg, said that "the vision
and mission of Air Panama is to offer the necessary air service to satisfy the
demand of visitors to national tourist destinations, as well as to contribute
to the development of these communities."
Pedasí is one
of the priority tourist poles of the Master Plan for Sustainable Tourism (PMTS)
2020-2025, in which, through the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the
Tourism Cabinet, investments amounting to $25 million are made in tourism
projects. roads, tourist facilities and public services such as: electricity,
waste collection and drinking water supply.
"It is
important to connect each time the priority destinations of the PMTS, such as
the Pedasí district," said the general administrator of the Panama Tourism
Authority (ATP), Iván Eskildsen. Pedasí offers visitors a stay on its
well-known Iguana Island beach with its crystal-clear waters or to watch
turtles and whales, since the place is a refuge for wildlife. The town offers a
very varied gastronomic and tourist offer and, at the same time, combines with
the Panamanian country atmosphere, which is recognized as a multicultural
district.
